The Spark

The idea for create & so first took shape in 2019 while planning my cousin’s first birthday. Customized favors and small, thoughtful details revealed how intentional touches could transform a simple celebration into something deeply personal and unforgettable.

create & so officially began in 2020 when a simple embroidery project to unwind during university (personalizing a backpack) quickly turned into first orders from friends. Hoodie sleeves, jean pockets, and t-shirts became the start of something bigger.

Finding Our Purpose

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, our business grew on Etsy through embroidered art, iron-on patches, and paper stationery. It quickly became clear that customers weren’t just purchasing products — they were seeking thoughtful, meaningful touches that helped them stay connected to the people they loved, even from a distance. Requests for personalized notes, gift packaging, and direct shipping to recipients revealed a deeper need we could serve: helping people celebrate meaningfully.

Growth and Rebrand

By the end of 2020, fulfilling over 2,000 holiday orders reflected the confidence our customers placed in us for their most meaningful moments — from birthdays and baby showers to bridesmaid proposals and corporate gifting. In 2021, we rebranded, launched our own website, and refined every detail, from branded shipping boxes and wrapping paper to embossed pouches. Each order was thoughtfully designed to feel personal and gift-ready, honouring the trust that our customers placed in us.

Filling the Gap

Planning a wedding recently opened our eyes to just how overwhelming it can be for brides and their families. Between DIY details, multiple vendors, and the pressure to make events personal often left little room to enjoy the day.
